Create and Customize Lock Screen Wallpaper on iPhone

  1. First off, unlock your iPhone with Touch ID or Face ID.
  2. Now, swipe/left or right to find the Lock Screen wallpaper that you would like to design. After that, tap on Customize button at the bottom of the wallpaper. Note:

If you would like to customize the wallpaper from the scratch, tap on the “+” button at the bottom right corner of the screen and then select a desired wallpaper from the available options.

  1. Next, choose from a variety of tools like fonts, filters, and backgrounds to customize the wallpaper. It’s worth pointing out that customization tools vary depending on the wallpaper. So, mix and match using the available tools until you get the desired result.
  2. When you are happy with your wallpaper, tap on Done at the upper right contest of the screen to confirm the changes.
  3. Finally, tap on this wallpaper to bring it into play or you can choose to set it as the wallpaper pair.

Add Widgets to Your iPhone Lock Screen Wallpaper 

What makes Lock Screen customization so exciting is the ability to add widgets. Whether you wish to keep a track of weather conditions, your move goals, battery percentage, or stocks, widgets have got you covered.

  1. To get started, unlock your iPhone with Face ID/Touch ID. Now, find the Lock Screen wallpaper that you wish to adorn and tap on the Customize button.
  2. Note that you can add widgets both above and below the time. While the place below the time allows you to show multiple widgets (up to 4 small widgets), the spot above the time lets you display a single tiny widget. Now, tap on the frame either below or above the time to bring up the widgets selector. 
  3. Next, scroll through the list of available widgets and tap on the preferred ones to add them to the widget panel. Widgets are available in different sizes so that you can pick a preferred one in accordance with your design theme.
  4. Once you have added the widgets to your Lock Screen wallpaper, be sure to tap on Done at the upper-right corner of the screen. After that, tap on the wallpaper to set it up.

Reminders: Reminders widget is only available in one format and displays your reminders lists and next due reminder. Batteries: Batteries widgets come in multiple sizes to let you track batteries.Calendar: Calendar widgets come in three formats to let you track the current date and next upcoming event’s time. Home: The Home widget is beautifully designed and shows essential information like indoor climate sensors, lights, switches, and security issues. Set Portrait Photo As iPhone Lock Screen Wallpaper for Depth Effect 

Interestingly, iOS 16 also lets you set portrait photos as Lock Screen wallpapers. Better still, you can use filters to enhance your wallpaper and even enable the depth effect to make it look stunning.

  1. Unlock your iPhone > tap on the + button at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  2. Now, you can either select a photo thing from the Suggested Photos section or tap on the Photos tab at the top of the screen and then select a portrait image from your photo library.
  3. Next, swipe left or right to cycle through the available filters.
  4. Next up, tap on the triple dot icon at the bottom right corner of the screen and then tap Depth Effect in the menu to enable/disable it as per your need. As you can see in the screenshot below, when the depth effect is enabled, the subject in the photo shows above the time. And when the depth effect is disabled, the subject goes below the time.

If you use Focus Mode to keep distractions away while meditating or relaxing, chances are you would want to link a specific Focus profile with unique wallpaper. Once the pairing is done, when you activate your selected Focus profile, your wallpaper will come into action.

  1. Open the Settings app on your device -> Focus -> select a Focus profile.
  2. Now, tap on the Lock Screen wallpaper preview.

Shuffle Photos on Your iPhone Lock Screen 

If you want to take the customization to the next level, you should shuffle a bunch of your favorite photos on the Lock Screen of your iPhone. This way, your Lock Screen will not only always look pleasing to the eyes but also automatically change the wallpaper to keep the boredom at bay.

  1. Unlock your device > + button at the bottom right corner of the screen > tap on the Photo Shuffle tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Now, you have two options:

iOS 16 allows you to shuffle featured photos on the Lock Screen. To make your task easier, it automatically picks people and provides a curated collection of images. What’s more, you can also add/remove people to show only the selected people on the screen. To do so, tap on Choose right next to People and then select the person that you want to appear on your Lock Screen. Then, tap on Add at the top right. After that, tap on the drop-down menu next to Shuffle Frequency and choose Daily, Hourly (default choice), On Tap (changes photos whenever you tap on the display), and On Wake (changes photos whenever you wake the screen).

Select Photos Manually

If you would rather want to choose images manually, tap on Select Photos Manually and then select images from the photo library. Next, tap on the triple dot icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. Under the Shuffle Frequency section, choose from the available options like Daily, Hourly, On Wake, and On Tap. 3. Make sure to tap on Done at the top right to finish.
