How to Change Snapchat Color
There is currently no way to change the color of your Snapchat ghost without making a Bitmoji. You are given a random color for your ghost and cannot change or customize it. If you really want a specific color, you could keep making new Snapchat accounts until you get it. Otherwise, we recommend simply making a bitmoji, which is a significantly more detailed Snapchat character. You can even customize it to look just like you, or someone else! You can also pick any skin color you’d like for this character – you can even buy clothes for your Bitmoji!
Snapchat Head Colors Changed: Why?
You may ask “Why was I given this color?” Well, unfortunately there’s not much to it. Your Snapchat account is randomly given a color upon creating the account. Since Snapchats creation, there have been many myths about the color you’re given, but the truth is, it’s completely random. Your Snapchat color doesn’t mean anything and cannot be changed.
How to Create a Bitmoji
Since you can’t change the default Snapchat head color, you may ask if there’s a way to make your own character yourself. Lucky for you, you can! This feature is fun to use and, often times, you can make your Bitmoji look just like a cartoon version of you. It’s also very easy to get this set up, so let’s get started! How to Create a Snapchat Bitmoji for iOS and Android
- Open the ‘Snapchat’ application.
- At the top left corner, you’ll see your colored Snapchat avatar. Tap it.
- You’ll see an overview of your Snapchat username as well as your score, friends list, etc. At the top right corner of this screen, there will be an options wheel. Press it and you’ll be brought to the settings.
- In the settings menu, locate and tap ‘Bitmoji’
- Press ‘Create your Bitmoji’ Now, Snapchat will guide you through the process of creating your Bitmoji. Before you know it, you’ll have a mini cartoon version of you, with endless possibilities on how you want it to look!
How to Change The Color Of Your Snapcode
Now, let’s preface this guide by making it clear that Snapchat doesn’t offer this option natively. Instead, you download your Snapchat code and use your choice of photo editing to create the effect you want. There’s scores of users who add their own color gradients, solid colors and all of the above, by using this method. So, the first step is to grab a copy of your Snapchat code. What you don’t want to do is download the version that’s available in the Snapchat app. That version is of a much lower resolution than the one you’ll be working with. Any time you’re editing pictures, choosing a higher resolution will reduce any stretching effect and bad pixels. Here’s what you do:
Open your preferred web browser application. Once opened, head over to Snapchat’s homepage.
Now, in the top right corner you’ll see a menu icon, the three horizontal lines. Tap on them to reveal a drop down menu.
In the drop down menu, choose Snapcodes.
When prompted, tap Log in with Snapchat to sign in with your Snapchat account.
Once you’re logged in, tap the hyperlink “My Snapcodes,” located under “MAKE A SNAPCODE!”
From your list of Snapcodes, choose My Snapcode. You will be redirected to Account Management.
Tap MY SNAPCODE again. It’s at the top of the menu.
Take your finger and press and hold it against the Snapcode. When prompted, select Save Image. Note: If the option isn’t available, scroll down and tap Download Snapcode. You can then perform Step 8.
Your next move is to download and install editing software to your device. Some great suggestions are PicsArt (Android | iOS) and Pixlr (Android | iOS). However, almost anything will work so long as it can:
Turn your Snapcode black and white Has gradient options and or color slider
- Depending on your editing software, simply changing the color with the Hue tool will suffice. However, you can create a cleaner version by first changing it to black and white, then adding color where necessary. Some apps, like PicsArt, have a Gradient tool that applies a cascade of colors with various strengths in color.
- When the image is complete, tap Save, but do save it as a new copy. Keep your original Snapcode image clean for future use, just in case you want a different color. It keeps the quality as high as possible.
- Post your newly created Snapcode to social media, send it to friends, print it out on fliers, and so on. Alternatively, you can perform the same steps on a computer. If you happen to have editing software on your computer that you find is more comfortable to use, by all means use it. If you perform the steps on a computer, all you have to do is plug your phone into your computer and drag and drop the newly created Snapchat code into your phone’s storage. From there you are free to send it anywhere you want.
Bottom Line
With your Snapchat code now sporting a new color, it can be really good for grabbing the attention of others. In fact, creating a uniquely colored Snapchat icon is pretty common in advertisement, especially color gradients. And the best part? The code still works for anyone who wants to scan it; the color was never part of the code, it’s the dots that are scattered about. So long as you leave the dots alone, the Snapchat code will always be a viable shortcut to your profile, page or business.
